We eradicate rats and mice pests
Rats or “Rattus” belong to the family “Muridae“, and are a kind of medium-sized rodents from Asia, which throughout their existence have spread across all the countries of the planet causing dangerous plagues for humans, constituting a danger for health since they are transmitters of some contagious diseases.
Our team of professionals applies the best methods for each plague of rats, preventing them from causing damage to your home or premises and from spreading the diseases they can transmit.
DEFINITION AND TYPES
In Spain, among the more than 50 species of murids in existence, there are mainly two types of urban rats that colonise our environment and must be controlled. Their behaviour is very similar, with some differences in their morphology.
The first of these is the “Black Rat”, which has a black body and has been able to adapt to humans and urban development thanks to which it finds food.
The other type of rat that affects us is the “Sewer Rat”, which is grey in colour and more aggressive when it comes to searching for food, and so it even attacks larger animals.
EATING HABITS AND BEHAVIOUR
Both the “Black Rat” and the “Sewer Rat” look for areas inhabited by people, buildings and spaces where they know they will find food and shelter.
The rats’ diet is varied and they often eat all kinds of insects, leftovers or dead animals, seeds and plant sprouts or even bird eggs.
The preferred places for rats to take refuge are in sewers or some areas of our home where there are large cracks or holes. They also tend to live near rubbish containers where they can find food, or farms, orchards and gardens where they have seeds, plants and insects within reach.
REPRODUCTION OF THE COLONY
Rats are mammals that usually live between twelve and twenty-four months. When the females are adult and have reached sexual maturity (5 or 6 weeks after birth), their reproductive stage begins and will last until they die. They usually have about ten pregnancies per year and give birth to between 5 and 20 offspring.
As they have a great capacity for reproduction, they spread easily and form very numerous pests that can affect your property and health, and must therefore be controlled quickly.
Unfortunately, there are many serious problems caused by pests of rats, so in our company we take care of controlling their population and prevent them from affecting your health and causing damage to your home or business.

DAMAGE TO THE STRUCTURE AND FURNITURE
When building their shelter, rats damage our homes or premises by gnawing at their walls, floors and ceilings or by enlarging cracks that are already present, as well as the furniture they find.

DISEASES AND PARASITES
“Rabies” or “Salmonellosis” are two of the diseases we are exposed to if we have a plague of rats. Not only can they infect us through their bites, but also through the remains of excrement and urine they deposit around us.
In addition, people and pets are harmed by parasites such as fleas or ticks, which are brought in with the rats.

THEY CONTAMINATE OUR FOOD
When rats find a cupboard or piece of furniture in which we have stored food, they will not hesitate to get hold of it and bite its wrappings until they reach the food, infecting it with germs, such as viruses, protozoa and bacteria, which can cause us diseases.
Symptoms of a rat infestation
At Ecoplagas we are aware of the problems caused by a plague of rats, and that is why our staff will go to eradicate it safely and effectively, leaving your home or business free of any presence of rodents.
NOISE AND STRONG SMELL
If in our house or premises we notice a strong smell like ammonia or hear noises behind the walls, in the fake ceilings or on the floor, it is likely that there is a rat infestation.
FOOD WITH DAMAGED PACKAGING
It may be that in our cupboards or pantries we find some food containers or packaging with small bites and tears, which can lead us to a possible plague of rats looking for food.
WARNINGS
So that their teeth do not grow too much, rats chew on materials such as wood and plastic, causing significant damage to our homes. They can even cause a fire by chewing on wires.
TRACES OF PAPER OR FABRICS
To build their nests and shelter for their offspring, rats use whatever paper or cloth they can find. Therefore, you can also notice the presence of rats if you see small bites on your clothes, blankets, towels, newspapers, magazines or books, among others.
Eradicate rats and mice pests in Alicante
Mice are small mammals of the “Muridae” family that are characterised by their short, greyish fur.
These animals have spread all over the world, becoming one of the most numerous mammals after humans.
At Ecoplagas we have developed optimal and effective solutions to eradicate and eliminate mouse pests in a definitive and safe manner, using methods that do not endanger either human health or the environment.
DEFINITION AND TYPES
We distinguish between several species of mice, but it is usually the “house mouse” the one that reaches larger populations, which can cause health or material damage, as it prefers to live near humans and in houses or places such as food factories or farms, where it easily finds food and can shelter to continue its reproduction.
EATING HABITS AND BEHAVIOUR
Although in nature, most species feed on fruits, grains and seeds, being omnivorous, mice can be sustained by a wide variety of other foods, although they have a preference for sweeter foods such as biscuits and chocolate, as well as cereals and seeds.
Their behaviour is nocturnal, and they are very suspicious animals, so we generally do not detect their presence until the population has reached a considerable number of individuals.
REPRODUCTION OF THE COLONY
Once the females have reached sexual maturity, if the temperature and food conditions are optimal, they will reproduce throughout the year. After a nineteen-day gestation period, four to seven offspring will be born and they may have as many as ten births per year.
The places chosen by mice to establish their colonies are usually those close to food sources, such as walls or roofs through which they will access our homes to reach food pantries or storerooms.
Problems caused by mice
At Ecoplagas we have detected several problems as a consequence of mouse plagues, which can seriously damage not only people’s health by transmitting diseases, but also material goods, since they also deteriorate building structures and the furniture they may find there.

DAMAGES
Due to the infestation of mice in search of food and shelter, serious structural problems are created in the buildings when they gnaw them, causing them to weaken.
They may bite doors, floorboards or furniture containing food for the purpose of accessing it.

HEALTH PROBLEMS
The presence of mice plagues exposes humans to various dangerous diseases such as leptospirosis, rabies or hepatitis, as well as carrying various types of parasites that can infect people and the food we eat.
Signs of a mouse infestation
There are several signs that lead us to identify a plague of mice and that force us to take measures to eradicate it definitively so that we are protected against the problems that may arise from a plague appearance.
EXCREMENTS
One of the signs that alert us of the presence of mice is the presence of their droppings in the areas they pass through. They are small, long and very numerous (a single mouse can excrete up to 150 droppings in a single night) and are usually found in sheltered and protected areas such as behind drawers or electrical appliances, inside cupboards, under furniture, etc.
TRACES OF DIRT AND SMELL OF URINE
Another signal is the presence of small grease stains on surfaces such as walls and furniture. These marks are left when they rub against surfaces to impregnate them with their smell.
We will also find their urines, which are small circles of yellowish liquid (similar to seed oil), or a dry stand, which releases a strong sharp smell.
FINDING MICE ALIVE OR DEAD
It is very unlikely that they will expose themselves to human beings, however, we may see some of them, even if they are dead. This will tell us that there is a population of them.
En Ecoplagas queremos llegar al máximo número de clientes, y por ello brindamos nuestros efectivos métodos en todo Alicante y ponemos a su servicio nuestra profesionalidad y compromiso.
